What it is like
A small tree. It grows 5-10 m tall. The crown is rounded. The twigs are angular and grey. They often have spines. The leaves are oval to round and thick and leathery. They are 5-10 cm long by 3-8 cm wide. They have 3 main veins from the base. The flowers are small and yellowish green. They are in branched clusters. The fruit are round or oval and 1 cm across.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in dry areas. In Puerto Rico it grows from sea level to 100 m above sea level.
