What it is like
A small tree. It grows 4-5 m high. The trunk is 20 cm across. It is twisted and spiny. The branches are rigid and there is a spine near the leaves. The leaves are oval and 5-9 cm long by 3-5 cm across. There are 3 main veins. The flowers are in the axils of leaves. The flower stalk is 0.5 cm long. The fruit is oval and 2-2.5 cm long by 1.5 cm wide. There is 1 seed.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows in areas with 1000 mm of rain per year. In Bolivia it grows to 1500 m altitude.
