What it is like
An evergreen tree. It grows 8-20 m tall but can be taller. The trunk can be 80 cm across and have its first branches at 15 m. It can be fluted at the base. The fruit is a fleshy spindle shaped berry 6-8 cm long. Possibly now Phyllarthron madagascariense
It has also been put in the family Araliaceae. The fruit is rich in Vitamins. There are 15 Phyllarthron species.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in humid forests. It grows up to 1,600 m above sea level or slightly higher.
