What it is like

A herb. It keeps growing from year to year. It grows 60 cm tall. The stems are erect and have narrow wings. The leaves are 15-25 mm long by 3-8 mm wide and have 3-5 pairs of leaflets. The fruit are narrow pods 4 cm long. The seeds are brown and smooth.

There are about 110-150 Lathyrus species. They mostly grow in Mediterranean climates.
