What it is like
A tree. It grows 15-30 m tall. The trunk is 60-80 cm across. It loses its leaves during the year. The twigs are hairy. The leaves are simple and alternate. They are oval to oblong and 10-30 cm long by 8-14 cm wide. The flowering shoots are 16-18 cm long with 2-4 branches each with 6-8 flowers. The fruit are oval with 2 wings 6-8 cm long by 2 cm wide. The fruit bodies are 2 cm long by 1.5 cm wide.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in forests. It is often in periodically flooded lowlands. It grows between 150-1,300 m above sea level. It grows in poor sandy soils.
