What it is like
A shrub with long slender runners. It grows 6 m high. The branches have small hooked prickles. The leaves have leaflets along the stalk. There are 5-7 leaflets that are narrowly oval and 3-8 cm long by 2-4 cm wide. They have coarse teeth. The flowers are white and have a scent. The fruit are bright red hips that are almost round and 8 mm across.
Where it is found
It is native to central and western China. It grows in scrub and near river banks between 500-1,300 m above sea level. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
