What it is like
A large tree. It grows 40 m tall. It has buttresses at the base. They bark is dark brown or grey and has cracks. The leaves have 3 leaflets. These are sword shaped and 8-14 cm long by 1-3 cm wide. They lower surface is silvery scaly. There are many flowers in a group. The fruit is a samara with a seed bearing portion with a wing 3-6 cm long by 1-2 cm wide.
Possibly now Argyrodendron trifoliolatum F. Muell.; Also put in the family Sterculiaceae.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in lowland rainforests on rich soils. In New South Wales it grows up to 600 m above sea level. In Melbourne Botanical gardens.
