What it is like
A bamboo. It grows 0.5-2 m tall. It has elongated rhizomes and stalks that are woody. It has sheath on the stalks that are 3-5 cm long. These are triangle shaped and fall off. The leaf blades are sword shaped and 8-14 cm long by 8-10 mm wide. They are rough, stiff and light green. The flowering shoots are separate.
There are about 50 Arundinaria species.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows in clearings in dense forest.
