What it is like
A cabbage family herb. It is an annual herb or small shrub. It grows 10-30 cm high and spreads 10-60 cm wide. The stems are spreading and often with many branches from near the base. The leaves are 5 cm long by 0.3 cm wide. They are narrow and sword shaped and taper to the base. They are succulent. The tip is blunt. The flowering groups are long and open. The flowers are 0.4 cm across. The petals ate white to purple. There are 6 stamens. The fruit is dry and long with 2 sections. It is 0.9 cm long by 0.7 cm wide. It often has warty projections and wings.
There are about 150 Lepidium species.
