What it is like

They are narrowly oval. The flowering stalks are near the ends of the branches. There are 1-3 flowers on each stalk. The flower petals are yellowish-white. The fruit are yellow and edible.

They have also been put in the family Memecylaceae.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows in primary forests. It can be in areas that are occasionally flooded. It is also often in open grasslands. It grows below 100 m altitude.
