What it is like
A tree. It grows 11 m high. The trunk can be 25 cm across. The leaves are crowded at the ends of the twigs. The leaves are more pale underneath. The leaves are 3-6 cm long by 1-3 cm wide. They are narrowly oval. The flowering stalks are near the ends of the branches. There are 1-3 flowers on each stalk. The flower petals are yellowish-white. The fruit are yellow and edible.
They have also been put in the family Memecylaceae.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in primary forests. It can be in areas that are occasionally flooded. It is also often in open grasslands. It grows below 100 m altitude.
