What it is like
A tree. It grows 20-30 m tall. The bark flakes off in thin strips. The branches are drooping. The leaves are large and simple and arranged opposite. The leaf stalk is 1 cm long. The leaves are oval and thinly leathery. They are 10-27 cm long. There are 35-40 pairs of side veins. The male flower is 1 cm long. Other flowers have both sexes.
There are about 300 Garcinia species.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in wet dense forests.
