What it is like
A tree. It grows 25-33 m tall. The trunk is 1 m across. It has buttresses about 2 m high. The are like planks. The bark is rough and cracked. The crown is fairly compact. The leaves are clustered at the ends of the branches. They are 23 cm long by 13 cm wide. They taper to a blunt tip. The flowering shoots are 25 cm long. The flowers are in groups of 2-3 in the axils of leaves. They are greenish yellow. The fruit are round and 2.5 cm across.
It has also been put in the families Flacourtiaceae and Salicaceae.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It is usually at low altitudes.
