What it is like
A shrub or small tree. It grows 1-4 m tall. The leaves are 6-13 cm long by 3-5 cm wide. The flowering branches are stout and flattened. There are usually 3 flowers in a group. The flowers have 4 parts. The fruit are round and 8-10 mm across. They are red when ripe. There are usually 4 seeds.

It is a tropical plant. It grows from sea level to 1,500 m above sea level. It grows in humid forest.
