What it is like
A shrub. It can grow 4-6 m tall. It can be erect or lie over. It is hairy. The leaves are alternate and narrowly oval. They are 5-15 cm long by 2-6 cm wide. They are wedge shaped at the base and taper to the tip. The flower tube is bright red. The fruit is white to red and lets light through. They are 5-6 mm across.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows between 1,600-3,600 m above sea level in the Andes.
