What it is like

A succulent herb. It grows 2.5 m tall. The leaves are dull green above and pale green underneath. The flowers are at the top. The flowering stalks are bright red. The flowers are enclosed in dark green bracts.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows in swampy areas among either sago or pandanus. In Papua New Guinea it has been recorded in the Ramu Valley.
