What it is like
A tree. It grows 35 m tall. The leaves are broadly oval and 4-16 cm long by 2-8 cm wide. They are papery. The male and female flowers are on separate trees. There are 8-14 fruit is a group. They are 10-15 mm long. The fruit have yellow flesh around the seeds.
There are about 80 Baccaurea species.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows in forests including bamboo forests. It grows from sea level to 1,200 m altitude.
