They are 3-5 cm long by 1-2 cm wide. They taper to the base. The flowers are pink to red. They can have both sexes or be female. The fruit are rounded and fleshy. They are 5-7 mm across. There are 2 kidney shaped seeds.

It is a subtropical plant. It grows in dry scrubland. It grows from sea level to 300 m above sea level.
