What it is like
A shrub or small tree. It grows 3-10 m high. It has a spreading crown and dense leaves. The trunk is 60 cm across. The leaves are broadly oval. They are leathery and 12-20 cm long by 8-12 cm wide. The flowers are in groups 15 cm across. They are in the axils of leaves or near the ends of branches. The fruit turn pink. They are urn shaped and 3-4 cm long. They can have 4 seeds.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. In Fiji it grows near sea level in thickets near the beach.
