What it is like

A tree. It grows about 15 m high. The leaves are stalked. They are alternate. They are sword shaped and taper to the base. They are 6-12 cm long by 2-4 cm wide. They have teeth. The flowers have stalks. They are surrounded by bracts. Flowers are yellow. The fruit is oval and 9-12 mm long by 4-5 mm wide.

There are over 250 Symplocos species.


Where it is found

A tropical plant. In Nepal plants grow between 1400-3000 m altitude. They grow in mixed forest. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
