What it is like
A shrub or small tree. It can grow 5 m high. The young branches are slender and hairy. The leaves do not have leaf stalks. The leaves are 3-6 cm long by 1 cm wide. They are narrowly sword shaped. They taper to the base and have a stiff point at the tip. The flowering stalks are in the axils of leaves and have long dense hairs. There are up to 10 flowers. The fruit are round and red. They are 3-4 mm across. It has a stone with 5 cavities.

Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows on woody grassland at 600-700 m altitude. It grows on nutrient poor and dry soils. It can grow between sea level and 2,750 m above sea level.
