What it is like

A shrub or small tree. It keeps its leaves throughout the year. It grows 15 m high. The small branches are purplish-brown. The leaves are broadly oval. They are 3-5 cm long by 1-3 cm wide. There can be small spiny teeth. There can be 1-2 acorns in a group. They are in a cup. The nuts are obong and 1.5 cm long by 1 cm wide.


Where it is found

It is a temperate plant. It grows in southern China on rocky limestone hillside between 1,000-2,500 m altitude.
