What it is like

The leaves are opposite and in 4 rows. The twigs are 4 angled and droop. The leaves are 1.5 mm long. The leaves are scale-like. They are dark green. The cones are 5 mm across. They are berry like. They are dark blue and have a blue coating. They are soft and juicy and sweet. There are 1 or 2 seeds. The male cones are on separate trees.

There are 50 to 60 Juniperus species.

It is a temperate plant. It grows along the coast near sea level in Carolina and Florida in the USA.
