What it is like
A herb or small shrub. It grows 1 m tall. The leaves are 15-30 cm long by 4-9 cm wide. There are 11-27 leaflets that are oblong and 15-40 mm long by 5014 mm wide. They are hairy underneath. The pods are straight and 8-13 cm long. There are many seeds.

It is a temperate plant. It grows in grasslands and deserts in north and western China.
