What it is like
A shrub. It grows 2 m tall. The leaves are broadly oval and 10-29 cm long by 4-14 cm wide. The leaves are scaly underneath. The flowers are in groups 6-8 cm long. The fruit are broadly oval and 6-7 mm long by 5-6 mm wide. They are reddish.
There are about 1500 Psychotria species.
