What it is like
A prickly shrub. It can be erect or lie over. It grows 1 m tall. The leaves are 2-8 cm long by 1.5-2 cm wide. There are 3-7 flowers in a group near the ends of branches. The fruit is a round berry 0.7-1.2 cm wide. There are 10-25 seeds in each fruit.
Where it is found
It is a subtropical plant. In South Africa it grows from sea level to 2,000 m above sea level.
