What it is like

A shrub or small tree. It grows 1-8 m tall. The small branches have ridges along them. The leaves are oval or spoon shaped and 3-7 cm long by 1-3 cm wide. The flowers are white or greenish. The fruit are round and purplish-black and 3-4 mm across.

There are between 150-200 Rapanea species. They occur in the tropics. Also put in the family Myrsinaceae.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows in mixed forests on limestone hillsides.
