What it is like

A bushy shrub. It grows 4 m tall. The leaves are dark green and 5 cm long by 1.5 cm wide. They are smooth. The flowers are in pairs and are small and white. They are on the end of 2 cm long stalks. The fruit is oval and fleshy and 5 mm long. They are pale yellow.

There are about 1500 Psychotria species. This one has hairy and smooth kinds.

A subtropical plant. It suits shady places. They are best with good drainage and plenty of moisture.
