What it is like
An evergreen tree. It grows 26 m tall. The trunk is 1.2 m across. The bark is brown and peels off. The leaf stalk is 2-10 cm long and is robust. The leaves are broadly oval and 15-30 cm long by 9-18 cm wide. The flowers are in the axils of leaves at the tip of the twigs. The fruit is a capsule with 4-5 valves. The seeds are 1.5 cm long.
Where it is found
It is a temperate or subtropical plant. In the Himalayas it grows up to 1,000 m above sea level.
