What it is like

An evergreen tree. It grows 15 m high. The leaves are oval and 9-22 cm long by 3-8 cm wide. There are teeth along the edge. The flowers are greenish-white. They are 1 cm across and in groups os 5-13. The fruit is round and woody. It is 3 m long. It splits open by 4 or 5 valves. There are 2-4 seeds.


Where it is found

It is a subtropical plant. It is native to central and western China. It grows in forests in deep valleys between 500-1,000 m altitude. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
