What it is like

A medium sized tree. It grows 2-16 m high. The young branches are dark brown. The leaves are narrowly oval and 8-18 cm long by 3-5 cm wide. The edges are curved back and tough. There are 3 veins along the leaf. The flowers are greenish-yellow. There are 3-5 in groups in the axils of leaves. The fruit is oblong and 1.5 cm long by 8 mm wide.


Where it is found

It is native to central and south western China. It grows in open country between 400-1,000 m altitude. In Sichuan.
