What it is like
A tree. It grows 12 m high. The trunk is short. The crown is wide spreading. The branches are large. The bark is deeply cracked. The plant varies a lot in size and leaf shape.
There are 4 or 5 Myrica species in Africa. Probably edible.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in mountain forest and on the edges of rainforest. It suits humid locations. It is resistant to fire. In Malawi it grows between 1,500-2,500 m altitude.
