A sedge. These grow in clumps and have grass like leaves and solid stalks. It keeps growing from year to year. It forms many tillers. It grows 10-60 cm high. The stalks are erect and 3 sided.

Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. In Java it grows up to 600 m above sea level. It grows in swampy and grassland locations.
