What it is like
A tree fern. It has an erect trunk 3-4 m tall. The trunk is 10-15 cm across. The fronds can be divided 2 or 3 times. They are about 2 m long. They are lighter coloured underneath. The stalk of the frond is spiny and has scales near the base. Possibly now Alsophila latebrosa.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows from sea level to 1,500 m above sea level. It grows in forests and on the edges of forests. It cannot tolerate frost.
