What it is like

A small crab apple tree. It grows 1.8 m high. It spreads 4.5 m wide. It has many branches. The leaves are broadly oval and with sharp tips. They are bright green and with a pair of lobes at the base. There are large teeth. The flowers are white. They occur singly and have a scent. The fruit are small and purple to bright red.

There are about 35 Malus species and very many cultivated varieties.
