What it is like
A tree. It grows 6-15 m tall. The branches are brown and have a hollow pith. The leaves are narrowly oval to sword shaped and 13-18 cm long by 4-8 cm wide. The flowers are in a loose group 8 cm across. They are orange to yellow. The fruit are 4-5 cm across. There are 2 to 4 seeds.
There are about 300 Garcinia species.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. In Yunnan in China it grows between 600-1660 m altitude. It grows in monsoonal rainforest.
