What it is like

A rigid sedge. It grows 20-60 cm high. The leaves and flower spike are in one plane. The leaves are flat, wide and stiff. They overlap in a fan shape at the base. The flower stem is concave. It ends in a densely branched flower head. The spikelets are in narrow clusters and are greyish-brown. They are 10 cm long.


Where it is found

It grows in temperate places. It grows in sandy forest, scrub and heath. It grows on sand dunes and wetlands. In Tasmania it grows up to 350 m altitude. Tasmanian Herbarium. Arboretum Tasmania.
