What it is like
An annual herb. It grows 50-100 cm high. The leaves near the base are fleshy and have leaf stalks. It has lobes along the sides. They are 10-20 cm long by 3-4 cm wide. The leaves on the stem are narrow and entire. The flowers are yellow. They are in loose groups 1-2 cm across. The pod is flattened and 3-4 cm long by 3-5 mm wide. It has one seed. There is a wing along the side and 6-8 spines.

It is a temperate plant. It can survive in dry places. It grows in the desert in north west China. It can grow in arid places. In Inner Mongolia.
