What it is like
A herb. It keeps growing from year to year. It has a short taproot. This is 2-3 cm long by 1-2 cm wide. The underground stems are short and stout. There is one winter bud at the ends. This develops a compound leaf that is divided twice like fingers on a hand.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It grows in western and south western China. It needs rich soil, part shade and good drainage.
