What it is like

A robust creeper. It grows 20-25 m long. The trunk is 20-28 cm across. The branches are stout and smooth. The leaves are simple and opposite. The young leaves curl. The leaves are 12-15 cm long by 4-5 cm wide. The base is wedge shaped. The flowers are in groups in the axils of the leaves. There are 6-12 flowers in a group. The flowers are greenish yellow. The fruit are round and fleshy with a stone inside. They are 5-6 cm across. They are orange to red. There are 3 seeds 2 cm long by 1.5 cm wide.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows in evergreen forests in the Western Ghats of Kerala, India. It is at 700 m above sea level.
