What it is like

A shrub. It grows 2-4 m tall. It has spines. The leaves are oval and 5-11 cm long by 2-4 cm wide. The flowers are purple and trumpet shaped. The fruit are yellow.

There are about 50 Acnistus species. They grow in Central and South America.


Where it is found

It is a temperate plant. In Argentina it grows between 1,000-3,100 m above sea level.
