What it is like

A climbing or spiny shrub. Young branches are hairy. The leaf stalk is 3-7 cm long. There are 8-20 pairs of pinnae and 19-81 pairs of leaflets. The flowers are in round heads. They are light yellow. The fruit are flat pods. They are 10-17 cm long by 1-4 cm wide. The seeds are brown and oval. They are 7-9 mm long by 5-6 mm wide.

There are about 1,350 Acacia species. Over 1,000 occur in Australia. This one is used as medicine. Also as Mimosaceae.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows in thick forests between 800-1,600 m above sea level.
