What it is like

A herb. It grows 5-15 cm tall. The tuber is round and 1-2 cm across. These are edible. The stems are erect and simple. The leaves are opposite and without leaf stalks. The leaves are narrowly sword shaped and 2-4 cm long by 2-3 mm wide. The flowers are at the top of the plant. The fruit are follicles 9 cm long by 4 mm wide.


Where it is found

A tropical plant. It grows in forests between 300–1200 m altitude in China. In Yunnan.
