What it is like
A herb which grow in water. It forms a tuber under the ground. These are 7-13 mm thick. The leaves are under the water. They are light green or reddish. They are narrow and have crinkled edges. They are 30 cm long by 4 cm wide. The flowers are white or cream with red anthers. They are in a single spike and 10-15 cm long and 5-8 cm above the water.
There are about 12-44 Aponogeton species. They are tropical and subtropical.

A tropical plant. It grows in still and running water.
