What it is like
A shrub. It can grow 2 m tall. It has a few curved prickles. The leaves have leaflets along the stalk and one at the end. There are 3-5 leaflets. The leaflets are narrowly oval and 2-5 cm long by 1-3 cm wide. The flowers occur singly in the axils of leaves or at the ends of branches. The flowers are 3-4 cm across and the petals are white. The fruit is aggregate and red and about 1 cm across.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It grows in forests and river banks between 500-2,300 m above sea level. In Sichuan.
