What it is like

A herb or small shrub. It grows up to 1 m tall. The stems are angular. They have yellowish hairs. The leaves have 3 leaflets. The leaflets are 2-5 cm long by 1-3 cm wide. The flowers are in a group in the axils of leaves. The fruit is an oblong pod.

There are about 100 Lespedeza species.


Where it is found

It is a temperate plant. It grows on mountain slopes and grasslands below 1000m altitude.
