What it is like
A ginger family herb. It has tuberous roots. The leaves are oblong and 20-25 cm long by 6 cm wide. The flower spikes is cylinder shaped and 8-13 cm long. The flower lobes are yellow. The fruit is a capsule 2.5 cm long by 1.5 cm wide. It has curved spines. The seeds are 3-4 mm across and angled.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in dense forests in southern China.
