What it is like
A shrub. It grows 2 m tall. The shoots are thin and hairy. The leaves are 5 cm wide and have 3-5 lobes. They have double teeth. There are flat bristles above and they are softly hairy underneath. There are 6-10 flowers in a hanging group. The flowers are green and 1.5 cm across. The fruit are black and shiny.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. In Central America it grows between 3,000-3,800 m above sea level. It usually grow in the dense shade in conifer forest.
