What it is like

A herb which forms a tuber. These are yellowish brown and 1-3 cm across. It has creeping stolons. There are 3-4 leaves. The leaves are oval or heart shaped. They are 8-24 cm long by 7-15 cm wide. The leaf stalk join the leaf blade in from the edge. The leaf tapers to the tip. It is dark green. The bract around the flower is yellowish but purplish underneath.

There are 4 Remusatia species.


Where it is found

A subtropical plant. In Nepal it grows from 1000-2400 m altitude. It grows on mossy rocks. It grows between 1500-2000 m altitude in Uttar Pradesh in India. In Yunnan.

How it is used for food

The tender leaves are cooked as a vegetable. The tuberous roots and leaves are thoroughly washed and boiled for a long time then eaten as a vegetable.
