What it is like
A palm. It can have a trunk 2 m tall. It has several stems in a cluster. The leaves are arranged in an irregular manner. They are 5 m long. There are 4-5 flowering stalks and they hang down and are 2-3 m long. The fruit are 4.5-7.5 cm long by 3.5-4.5 cm wide. They have reddish brown scales.
