What it is like
A tree. It drops its leaves during the dry season. The leaves are simple and alternate. They are 10-32 cm long by 4-15 cm wide. The flowers are cream to yellow and red inside. The fruit are oval and 12-20 cm long. They turn yellow when ripe.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in the Andes between 900-2,200 m above sea level.
